    Penang Escape 2009 (3)

Thursday, June 11, 2009 read close 0 speaks

As adventure continues, we went to Bukit Bendera next morning (actually, don't ask me why).

Apparently there's many tourists on that beautiful Saturday morning, and I only managed to find a car park somewhere near the entrance which supposedly cost me RM2 for uncovered car park, and RM3 for covered car park.

If you wonder what is the definition of a "covered" car park...

Being a DAP led state, we met an ironic situation here in Bukit Bendera.

Don't get what I'm trying to say?

    What a real let down.

    Penang Escape 2009 (2)

An escape will not be complete without food :) A not-so-scientific finding shows that Penang really got manyak Siamese food. Anyway, a not-so-local friend brought us on our Day 1 Dinner to her EPCC CG favourite hangout Thai restaurant in Changkat Sungai Ara... don't ask me how to go, but here's the address ;)

    Cherry Blossom
    1B, Changkat Sungai Ara 6
    11900 Penang.

Mango Salad :) A bit dry, would be better if they put more vinegar.

This is the special crispy fried kangkung.

    Pineapple fried rice, normal.

    Tomyam! with a special pot.

    Thanks for your hospitality :)

    Penang Escape 2009 (1)

I had the opportunity to stay over in Tune Hotel Penang, Jalan Burma :)

Smart card ala RFID, perhaps you should bring your own hair dryer, and air-conditioner ;)

Though their rooms are relatively small, but I really like their wall design.

My room comes with two single beds, without any window

The lady next door was more fortunate, it comes with one window, and lots of sunshine.

The receptionist was kind enough to give us three two connecting rooms, though we didn't took advantage of it to do any hanky-panky. Perhaps we're just a bit tat' old :)

Perhaps some might be disappointed as previous visitors to other Tune Hotel may discover a "special" feature of their bathroom where its door is a crisp clear see-through glass. I guess now they are smarter knowing Malaysians typically rather camera shy, hence those big wordings on the door.

    Frankly, nice bathroom.

Monstrous shower head - and nice.

With only 2 hours sleep before the long 4 hours drive, anyone can really be like this dungu...

    More to come...

    Room Thoughts

I wonder anyone of you are like this, but my room reflects my life. If my room is in a mess, it means my life is alike too. Perhaps it helps in comforting me if everything is in a mess ;)

What's going on with our country?

Tuesday, May 12, 2009 read close 0 speaks

    Fahri Azzat from Loyarburok wrote,

All the on-going developments are easy to understand if you have a paradigm shift which is this:

    (1) Laws are for people not in power

    (2) Laws are to be obeyed when convenient, and when ignored, the actions in ignorance of the laws are declared legal by those in power and their cohorts

    (3) All developments by the government are with the purpose of keeping the political and business elite in power

    (4) The political and business elite don’t give a damn about people not in power unless it’s in their interest to do so

    (5) The political and business elite know exactly what they are doing so don’t bother asking questions like ‘Why are they doing this?’ ‘Dontch they know its wrong/contravenes the law/ethics/etc.’ because one tends to sound terrribly naive and give them even more reason to oppress us

Once you internalise all this, you will cease to be baffled and understand, albeit sadly, for the most part what is going on in this country.

    A person not in power,

    Fahri
